Kennison Mountain Trail, Cranberry Backcountry, Monongahela National Forest
Clocking in at 9.5 miles, Kennison Mountain Trail is currently the longest trail on which SHARC Trails has completed deferred maintenance. In May 2026, our Seasonal Crew began chipping away at 295 deferred maintenance locations identified by our management team during the off-season. By the end of August 2026, all 295 locations had been completed.
Work consisted of clearing existing drainage, installing grade dips, rock armoring wet sections, enhancing the trail corridor, completing multiple re-routes, and constructing a bridge using materials harvested on-site. An Alaskan sawmill was used to mill decking boards for the bridge.
For a more detailed breakdown of this project, tune back in next month for our GAOA report.
