OEDC Rock Armor Class; Mower Basin Trails, Monongahela National Forest
West Virginia University’s Brad and Alys Smith Outdoor Economic Development Collaborative (OEDC) offers a variety of trail training opportunities. In September 2025, SHARC Trails partnered with local U.S. Forest Service staff to host WVU OEDC’s Rock Armor 101 course on the Sparrow Loop Trail in the Mower Basin of the Monongahela National Forest. The training brought together trail club volunteers and SHARC Trails crew members for a blend of classroom instruction and hands-on learning focused on rock armoring techniques.
